Canadians chose GLOBAL WARMING as the biggest issue of our times in a recent poll. Do U agree? What can we do?

by: mykoo7I definitely agree, but am saddened to see how so many people couldn’t care less.

There is a widespread agreement among scientists that man is to blame. Our CO2 emissions, ranging from cars and airplanes, gas & electricity all are contributing to a planet that is heating up.

Methane (doesnt last as long as CO2, but is TWENTY times stronger) from our MEAT farms, and from natural sources is also to blame. So it would definitely help if we all pushed strongly for renewable energy in the near future, had a greater public transportation system, were more conscious about our individual impacts (http://www.climatecrisis.net/takeaction/)…and if we all adopted vegetarian lifestyles as well.

I fear we don’t have much time left in our planet to change course. Global warming isn’t caused by man alone (there are natural processes that release methane and CO2), but it’d be foolish to stop contributing to global warming when we could do so.

Now the question: is what are the next steps?

I’m a Canadian and I didn’t chose that. However, It is getting hotter all the time and my skin is already toasted from working in a foundry so I can feel the temperature increases. It feel like a blow-torch on my skin. Most people don’t know that the longterm effects of repeated radiant heat exposure are skin atrophy(thinning), skin lesions and thermal skin cancer.

Well, the next step for many people is to have absolute proof before they will be willing to do anything. Some people don’t believe that sh*t stinks unless it is held right under their noses.
Global warming is real and unless something is done to curb the crises, then a lot of us are doomed if not everybody……….

I think “Global Warming” is a merely a political buzzword. I am not alone Richard Lindzen is holds a chair in meterology at MIT. He’s got some interesting things to say. Check out the link below.

Yes, they are right. We ( especially us Americans ) are doing NOTHING about global warming. We have allowed our oil president and his administration to avoid making the drastic changes. We have allowed the car companies, who have bought up most of the non-petroleum, non-oil patents, to continue making stupid, gas burning cars without regard to efficiency or the environment. The oil companies, of course, want to keep us dependent on oil so they can make a buck now and their children can worry about the environment later. The oil company people will be so rich they can just move to a location not damaged by global warming. The rest of us will live in deserts, flooded areas, and places where food won’t grow. As for the next steps? Who knows, maybe we should just stop driving our cars – period.

It takes education and it takes effort, but we’ll do it. We can make a difference. Look at all the changes people are making already. Did you know that the ozone layer has stopped thinning? That’s because people have been educated about the changes that need to be made and have changed their bad habits.
