Since the industrial revolution in the 1870s, human activities that use fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal) has increased. Activities such as power generation, industrial activities, the usage of electronic equipment, and the usage of motor vehicles finally will be releasing a number of emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

This resulted in the increasing amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere which then causes heat increased was trapped in the atmosphere. This incident eventually cause temperatures increasing in the earth’s surface, commonly called global warming.

Global warming and the process results some changes such as increased sea water temperature, which causes increased evaporation in the air, and the changing patterns of rainfall and air pressure. These changes eventually cause climate change.

Based on the research of experts, known climate change will cause impacts detrimental to the life of mankind. Drought, crop failure, food crisis and water, rain storms, floods and landslides, and epidemics of tropical diseases are some of the effects of climate change. Therefore, for the sake of human survival, we must immediately attempt to reduce activities that emit greenhouse gas emissions in order to hamper the pace of climate change.

by: STINKYPOOPMANhaha not global warming (we know thats true) but the concept of global warming, andare the CO2 emissions actually having that much of an affect on the earth. does it really have all that much hard core evidence? seems to me like we are freaking ourselves out over something that is not that much of a problem. cuz global warming is really our ‘prediction’ of the future weather patterns of planet earth. if you ask me, there are WAY too many factors to take into account and it is ultamately too complex of a system to track and predict. Im not saying im right, global warming may be a serious problem. but i really dont think theres enough solid evidence. what do you think?

CO2 vs. Water vapor emissions: Is it any better in the long term?

by: daknovaThe current thinking is if we shift our energy needs from fossil fuels to hydrogen fuel we will eliminate the problem of global warming caused by CO2. The thought that strikes me is, If we shift to a hydrogen based energy will the water vapor created by hundreds of millions of cars and other fuel burning machines our modern society relies on cause an excessive amount of water vapor to be put into our atmosphere creating a larger problem due to the fact that water vapor has a more profound environmental impact in other ways such as increased rainfall over the planet.
The other thought I have is since we will be converting hydrogen into water on such a large scale, will this not eventually increase the total amount of liquid water on our planets surface, thereby raising ocean levels anyway? Should we be trying to emulate what nature does naturally by developing technologies which convert CO2 to usable energy thereby creating oxygen as a by-product. I would have to assume that since we are supposedly the smartest species on this planet that we could figure out how plants do this so efficiently and follow their lead.

Challenge to Climatologists?

by: Rob FIt is proven that aerosols and other particulate matter such as cloud cover scatter or reflect radiation. In the case of reflection, energy is reflected at the same angle at which it hits an object.

Because of this process, aerosols are responsible for cooling the troposphere. If aerosols were not a product of human activity, then we would see temperatures now as hot as 2070 is projected (Source: MIT Technology Review, Aug. 06)

Worldwide, aerosols are produced mostly by car exhausts and the burning of organic material.

My question to climatologists is, at what point should we mobilize economic resources to produce and manage constant aerosol emissions?

When will we admit that global CO2 emissions will not be cut enough to save the Antarctic?

Sequestering greenhouse gases from coal is decades off from wide-scale implementation.

We all saw what happened to mean temperatures during 9/11′s no-fly rule.

Why do PACs ignore aerosols when speaking to the general pub.?

Science, global warming?

by: Brown Sugar…Based on past and current patterns, which of the following is the most logical deduction?

a. As the population declines, global temperature will cool significantly because the rain forest will re-grow.
b. If populations continue to rise, CO2 emissions will reduce in proportion and temperatures will climb.
c. As human population increases, CO2 emissions will increase and global temperatures may continue to climb.
d. Continued rain forest destruction will cause a lowering of atmospheric CO2 , lowering temperatures and pushing us into an ice age.
e. Acid rain will be reduced, slowing the depletion of the ozone and countering the possible effect of global warming.

What two facts support the theory of global warming?

a. Earth’s temperature is getting warmer and dust pollution is increasing.
b. Earth is getting cooler and smog formation is increasing.
c. Man is adding about 7 billion tons of CO2 to the atmosphere each year and ozone depletion is happening.
d. Human activities add about 7 billion tons of CO2 to the atmosphere each year and CO2 traps heat better than the atmosphere.
e. Rain forest are being burned down and the smoke and soot has a cooling effect on the atmosphere.

Which of the following shows two ways that destruction of the rain forest may increase the possibility of global warming?

a. Burning the rain forest releases CO2 and as living trees grow they remove CO2 . Thus, it has a double impact on the global warming threat.
b. Burning the rain forest stops the trees from removing the CO2 and causes extinction of many plant and animal species.
c. Burning the forests reduces the production of natural ozone and increases acid rainfall.
d. Rain forests are the source of nearly all coal and burning the coal causes increased change of warming temperatures.
e. All of these are ways that destruction of the rain forest will increase the chance of global warming.
