Instead of Global Warming Are We Heading Back Into Global Cooling?

Is Britain’s recent big freeze the start of a potential trend worldwide towards colder weather which can seriously challenge global warming theory, the world may have entered a cold phase that could produce a dip in temperature that may last for 20 to 30 years.

If this is the case then summers and winters could be cooler than what has been recently experienced, which could mean the global warming being stopped and or reversed in it’s tracks, some scientists claim this is based on predictions after analyzing natural cycles of temperate in the waters of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

Some believe that these natural cycles and not the human races interaction with the environment can explain the major changes in worldwide temperatures during the last century, if this is true it will call into question the political measures to stop this alleged global warming and bring into question the validity of the research that highlighted it in the first place.

The U.S National Snow & ice data centre based in Colorado says Earth’s warming from 1900 is down to natural oceanic cycles and not by man made greenhouse gases, it occurred because earth is in an “warm mode” which would have happened had mankind’s alleged rising carbon dioxide production existed or not.

Oceanic cycles now may have switched into a “cold mode” where data has been reported to show that summer sea ice in the Arctic has increased by at least a quarter since 2007, some scientists have predicted a cooling trend in 2008 and indicated a warning of it again in September 2009 in Geneva.

Some scientists have expressed the opinion that the warming trend we have experienced in recent years may have gone into reverse resulting in the winters like the one we have at this present time, it has been mentioned in some areas that a cycle of 20 to 30 years of cooling to warming years then returning to cooling occurs. If this is the case may we see a halt to retreating sea ice and glaciers?

Meteorologists have blamed the recent big freeze that Europe and the UK experienced on a “Arctic oscillation?” which is a weather pattern in which areas of high pressure have pushed the jet stream away from Britain, some have said this is just a temporary change and will not have any long term impact on the warming patterns.

But there is also the flip side argument that says they amount to very large rearrangements in the dominant weather patterns and their shifts explain all of the major changes in planetary temperatures during the 20th &21st centuries. Do we have that change upon us now?
