Science question Someone please provide me with a link that would provide the answser to this question?

by: dtj22I’m not a science major but I try really hard. I’m starting to see double letters. I have read articles after articles. I really need some help with this question. This was my last resort. Please.. Thank you so much.

Are U.S. economic concerns more important than curbing CO2 emissions? Or does abating global warming somce before economic issues?

What an excellent question. Tricky too. As we don’t really know all the effects of climate change the answer has to be opinion based. You will also find a variety of opinions from both sides of the GW fence.

My opinion is that renewable energy can provide new economic stimulus and numerous opportunities for growth. Changing the way we produce and use energy also helps the economy by cutting out waste. Even conserving energy at home on an individual basis can save a family quite a lot of money. There are two people living in my 1800 sq ft house and our electricity bill is about $75 a month.

So, using less energy is good for the economy. And, as every product we buy takes energy to develop, manufacture and transport, using renewable energy can only be beneficial for the whole consumer society.

So, for me the answer is that they have to be woven together. Producing more solar panels and solar water heating systems will bring the price down and then we will eventually spend less on energy.

Here is an example of how energy saving and economy work together:

“System wide, energy and resource reductions are generating the equivalent of more than $2.9 million in total savings for Metro Nashville Public Schools. Likewise, the overall powerplant and HVAC system improvements are resulting in the reduction of greenhouse gases, in the aggregate amounts of 26,231,885 pounds of CO2, 53,093 pounds of NOx and 197,660 pounds of SO2.”

If you google “schools saving energy” you will find a lot of stuff like this and links to more good info.

Conversely, the effects of climate change could be very bad for the economy indeed. Look at the costs of weather related disasters and imagine more of these happening. So, what do you think?
