I have a 250 watt panel and the junction box has been removed leaving only four silver band strands. Which one is the positive and which is the negative

Its a uni-solar. Send me the panels and you can keep the frame :)

I just got my 5″ monocrystalline solar cells at Solar-Deals(.)com for a great price! I’m going to use these for my DIY solar panel.

nice video. but does it matter if you get a little arc? I mean it is really no different that putting the tester on a battery right?

A 12V nominal panel will normally have an open circuit voltage of 16 or 17 Volts… if you’re trying to charge a 12V battery with this panel, then the voltage needs to be higher than 12V in order to induce a charge…

  8. normnelson says:

For beginners, you should point out that you switched the red lead on the multimeter into the Amps plug for the second test… and you also might mention to either turn the module back into the shade before you disconnect from the Amp test, or make sure they pull away quickly, like you did in this test… to prevent arcing

Is it important to check the nominal volatge of a panel? that value that usually is 12v. And what is a good nominal voltage if the panel is exposed to sunlight? Is a value less then 12v for a 12 v panel normal eg 10.5v? 11v? or should be more then 12v?
