Actually we do not require radical changes to help the earth became more friendly. Change some your routines that can reduce the carbon that will ultimately save your money too. But the important thing is we can give our children a better place for the live. Here are 50 tips to reduce Global Warming to save our earth, and make a better life

Food

1. Reduce consumption of meat, vegetarian is the best. Based on the research, to produce 1 kg of meat, the resources that spent is equivalent of 15 kg of wheat. Imagine how we can save the earth from lack of food if we are vegetarians. Livestock also contributes 18% of world carbon, which is greater than the transportation sector (cars, motorcycles, aircraft, etc.). Not yet added the danger of additional greenhouse gases produced by other farm activities such as methane that in fact 3 times more dangerous than CO2, and NO gas is 300 times more dangerous than CO2. And certainly many health and spiritual benefits of a vegetarian was. You will become more healthy and loving.

2. Eat and cook from fresh ingredients. Avoiding foods that are processed or packaged to reduce energy and transport wasted due process repeated. Fresh food is healthier for our bodies.

3. Buy local products, local agricultural produce is very cheap and also energy efficient, especially if we calculate the energy and transportation costs. Organic food is more environmentally friendly, but the check came from. If we imports from other regions, possibly resulting carbon emissions would outweigh the benefits.

4. Used to Recycling Obsolete aluminum, plastic and paper. There will be more savings if you use it over and over again. Energy spent to make aluminum cans equal one is equivalent to the energy to turn on TV for three hours.

5. Used to buying in large packs. It will be much cheaper, also save resources for packaging. If too much, invite your friends or family to share together.

6. Turn off your oven a few minutes before time. If still left closed, then the heat will not be lost.

7. Avoid fast food. Fast food is the largest waste producer in the world. Beside that fast food consumption is also bad for your health.

8. Bring your own shopping bag which can be used again, so you reduce the amount of plastic bags.

9. Use washable cups. If you are familiar with the modern way that always provides guests with a drink of water or coffee in a package, switch to our old way of using glass, ceramic, or plastic food grade we can re-wash and wear.

10. Go for shopping in neighborhood area. It will save transportation costs and also your fuel.

11. Planting trees at every opportunity, like in your neighborhood or by participating in tree planting programs. You can by seeds donating, funds, etc., depending on the opportunities and abilities each of you.

At Home

1. Turn lower your air conditioner temperature. Avoid using the maximum temperature. Use the AC at the level until you feel comfortable enough alone. Ultimately this will save your electric bill.**

2. Use a timer to avoid forgot to turn off the AC. Use it according to your habits. For example your office hours are 8:00 until 17:00 o’clock. Set the timer to the AC in accordance with the office hours.**

3. Used of solar heating. Although more expensive, in the long terms this will save your electric bill.**

4. Use energy-saving lamps. Although more expensive, they are 8 times more powerful and more efficient up to 80% of normal incandescent lamps.

5. Turn off lights when not in use and do not let the water drip.

6. Maximize natural lighting. Use bright colors on the walls, use glass tiles in the ceiling, and windows.

7. Avoid stand-by position on your electronics. If your entire appliance is turned off (not in a position of stand-by) then you can reduce CO2 emissions in extraordinary electrical energy savings.

8. Reduce the frequency of opening your refrigerator. For every minute you open the refrigerator door will take around 3 minutes of energy to restore the temperature of the freezer to the desired temperature.

9. Immediately remove the rechargeable battery and if it is full.

10. Do not buy fresh flowers, if your area is flower producing. It must be sent from somewhere else. The transportation will produce a large carbon.

11. Use cold water to wash and wash in large quantities. If you have a small family, it is not necessary to wash every day. This will save water, reduce electricity consumption and also reduce the pollution due to your detergent.

12. Cut food in smaller pieces. The smaller pieces will use less energy to cook.

13. Use environmentally friendly cleaners and detergents.

14. Reuse your furniture again. If you are bored with your old furniture, you can make garage sale in your house, give to someone else or take it to the craftsman to be modified as your desire.

15. Donate toys that are not appropriate for your child’s age. This will reduce the toys production that will only continue to spend our earth’s resources.

16. If using a deodorant or other spray products, do not use aerosols. Aerosols are also a big contributor in our air pollution

Electronic Usage

1. Go rechargeable; use the equipments with a battery that can be refilled.

2. Buy electronic and equipments energy saving. For example choose the LCD TV than CRT TV (conventional TV tube). Look for AC or refrigerator with the lowest power consumption.

3. Not easy to change electronic devices that have the same function.

Sanitary Appliances

1. Cleaner, Greener, Meaner. Although still more expensive, cleaning products are environmentally friendly already present in the supermarket. But actually vinegar and baking soda can be used for cleaning almost everything of any kind. Mix the vinegar with warm water (50:50), those solutions can be used as a multipurpose cleaner. Baking soda can be used to clean the carpet also.

2. Make sure your house has good air circulation. This is very important that toxins in our surroundings can clean quickly.

3. Place the plants that can live in the room, it helps the freshness of your environment.

4. For handling the toxic products, please contact or environmental hygiene services in your environment.

In Driving

1. Use a car pool for your child’s school. This will greatly reduce your fuel consume.

2. If you can not get away from the car usage, use a city car or a car with fuel bio fuel, electrics, hybrids and even hydrogen, depending on your ability.

3. Replace your fuel! Use natural gas or renewable one.

4. Check tire pressure and your service schedule. Several trusted surveys to keep the condition of your car in optimum condition will save 5% of your fuel usage.

5. Rent a car when needed. If car is not the primary vehicles that you use, then the rent is a good choice.

6. Turn off the engine while waiting your child at the school or when there in severe traffic.

7. Use a car pool for you and your coworker. Find your coworker in same area to use your car. Then you can share travel expenses with them.

8. Learn how to drive well. Change transmission earlier can reduce fuel consumption up to 15%. If approaching congestion or traffic lights better stop slowly not to brake suddenly. Avoid driving in harsh. Move the gear when it reaches 2500 rpm-3000 rpm. And driving at 1500-3000 rpm limit, some surveys to get a satisfactory result in the fuel frugality if follow these rules.

On the Way

1. Try to have lunch at the office. If we often eat outside the office and routine, it is better if you buy a lunch box or drinking bottle which can be used repeatedly. Avoid plastic wrap or media Styrofoam (derived from petroleum and are difficult to unravel).

2. Reduce use of paper. Use internal e-mail and office software to create an internal report. Print reports / presentations only if required to do a deal with outsiders.

3. Turn off office equipment when not in use. Turn off from the source. Do not make stand-by, turn off the UPS and transformers. When you need it, pull electricity from the source.

4. Use e-banking. Divert your credit card bills through the collection by e-mail. Maximizing the use of e-banking will save you a lot of time and your expenses. You have saved and saved a lot of trees and CO2 consumption for paper manufacturing process.

5. For industry, start using renewable sources (wind power, water, solar, etc.). Use power-saving equipment and energy efficient, and make policy / regulation about energy saving in your company.

6. Go vacation in town and use land transportation, because the vacation will greatly increase your carbon footprint. Especially, when you are use the plane. An airplane is a significant contributor to greenhouse than a car or other land vehicles.

7. Reduce your business trip. With current technology it is possible to conduct teleconferences, also provides so many methods of communicating via the Internet.

8. Use your hotel towels more than 1 day. You’ll save one of the most important resources, water. And also reduce pollution from detergents used.

wparticles asked:

Energy is not just the monthly bill you have to pay each month; it is the foundation of everything you do and the life to everything you have. But with the increasing cost of energy, it cannot be denied that we need to take important measures to limit our energy consumption. Saving energy becomes a must and a habit that everyone should seriously adapt.

Heating and Cooling.

Almost half of your electric bill goes for your heating and cooling systems so if you really want to maximize your savings here are the following things you can do:

Clean your air filters at least once a month.

Clean baseboard heaters, radiators, and warm-air registers as often as necessary; make sure that they are working properly; and that they are not blocked by drapes, carpeting, and furniture.

Set the thermostat as high as is comfortable when it is hot or as low as is comfortable when it is cold.

Turn off exhaust fans (kitchen, bath, others) 20 minutes after cooking or bathing. Keeping them on for a long time affects the temperature of the room.

Lighting and Appliances

As much as possible, use natural lights – working near the windows will prevent you from turning on the light and consuming energy. Utilize the power of the sun.

Switch off the lights every time you leave the room even if it is just of a minute.

If you are using the 4-foot fluorescent lights, install reflective backings to maximize the light.

Switch to compact fluorescent lights. There are 4-watt minifluorescent lights and 40-watt fluorescent lights have the same illuminating effect.

Turn off all lights and appliances when not in use. Unplug unnecessary appliances like microwaves, television, stereos, computers, and VCRs if you are not using them. Also, unplug chargers and devices with bloc-shaped transformer on the plug. All of them consume energy when plugged in. Do not leave them on “stand-by” mode.

Look of Energy Star label when purchasing lighting product.

Use task lighting instead of lights that cover the entire room. For example, use lamp shades when reading and not the lights for your room.

Laundry

Washing your clothes cold will reduce washer’s energy consumption by as much as 90%. Air drying eliminates the energy use for machine drying.

Always do full loads whenever possible. If you are washing a small load, use appropriate water level and wash setting.

Refrigerator

Maintain a right temperature for your freezer and refrigerator.

Do not hold the refrigerator or freezer open. The energy consumption increases if the motor works endlessly just to maintain the temperature of the refrigerator and freezer.

Check for leaks and cracks in the gasket. Make sure that your refrigerator is completely sealed to maintain the temperature inside.

Insulation

Heat loss happens when your house is not properly sealed. Use sealants or weather-stripping on windows.

Make sure that air cannot escape or enter in to the pipes, doors, walls, floors and ceilings. A properly insulated home saves as much as 10% in electric bill.

In a typical household monthly electric bill, 44% goes to the heating and cooling systems; 33% goes to lighting and other appliances; 14% goes to heating the water; and 9% goes to the refrigerator. Take note of this power distribution to know where exactly you can maximize your saving.

save energy

Is Your Old Refrigerator Running Optimally? Tips On Saving Energy In The Kitchen

by: Robin GreenUnless your fridge is so old or worn out that you’ve already chosen to replace it with an energy efficient fridge, you really should do a simple assessment of whether the fridge is running well. Issues such as how often and for how long the compressor motor runs, whether there’s frost in the freezer section, how good your door seals are, and the temperature range of the freezer and fridge sections, can all impact your refrigerator energy use.

Begin by simply trying to remember how frequently you hear the motor going. Does it seem to be going continuously, or is the refrigerator usually silent? Does the compressor seem to keep switching on and off (short periods of running time, then short rests)? During times of the day when the fridge door stays shut (for example overnight), the pattern of energy use for energy saving fridges is typically that of short periods with the motor working, interspersed with much longer periods of the compressor motor resting. If that’s how your fridge behaves, you’re off to a good start.

If the compressor motor is going nearly all the time, there may be issues with the gasket seal, or cobwebs on the coils, or the fridge may be in an enclosed area so that the heat the motor is working to extract from the interior has nowhere to escape to. You may just have an old refrigerator with an inefficient compressor motor, which translates into less heat extracted for a given amount of electricity input, or you might have substandard insulation in the fridge walls, so that more heat flows in through the fridge sides. Or you might have set the temperature too low in either the refrigerator or the freezer compartment.

Next look for ice build-up in the freezer compartment. Fast or heavy frost build-up in a manual-defrost freezer is usually an indication that warm, moist air is getting into the freezer section. You could have a poor seal on the freezer compartment, which allows cold air to escape through the seal, and warm, moist air to enter in its place. It takes more power to extract heat from moist air than from dry air, so you win on two fronts by eliminating air leaks. Even if you have a great seal, you should defrost a manual-defrost freezer regularly. You should never let more than a quarter inch of ice form on the compartment walls, as it makes the compressor motor work harder.

Check your refrigerator and freezer compartment gaskets to make sure you have a good seal. The standard test is the dollar-bill check. Open the refrigerator or freezer door so that you can slide a dollar bill halfway in, then close the door. If the bill stays tightly in place when you pull, the seal is fine in that part of the gasket. Do the same at several other points along the gasket. If at any point the bill slides out, or moves freely, try moving the bill along the seal in each direction until it sticks. That should give you an idea of how big each leak is.

You can sometimes solve gasket leaks by cleaning the gasket to remove any residue that might prevent a good seal. But if there are gaps and the gasket is clean, you really should replace the seal.

Your refrigerator may pass the dollar bill test even though the gasket is letting in air – if the gasket is cracked. Cracks can open up in the thin part of the gasket where it attaches to the door. Run your finger along the gasket feeling for rips, all the way around each door.

If you’re a DIY type, gaskets can be fairly cheap to replace. I bought a new gasket for my refrigerator five years ago and with no previous instruction had it on the door within a half hour. And an appliance repair person can install one even faster, especially if you tell them to bring a replacement gasket with them when you call them. So if your gasket is leaking or too rigid to provide a good seal, get it replaced.

What are the ideal temperatures for your fridge and freezer sections?

The last thing to look at in your do-it-yourself fridge assessment is the temperature in each compartment of your refrigerator. You can use either a standard glass thermometer or an electronic probe thermometer to do this. Place the thermometer (or the probe portion, for an electronic thermometer) in a jar half-filled with liquid (a pickle jar does nicely), and leave it in the compartment for a full 24 hours. (Make sure the jar is only half filled with liquid for the freezer compartment, so the freezing doesn’t break the jar. Don’t open the unit for at least an hour before you do your 24-hour measurement. Check the temperature on the thermometer. For the fridge compartment, you should strive for 39F or 40F (or 4C). For the freezer temperature, go for 5F (or -15C). If the refrigerator temperature or freezer temperature is lower than this, you are wasting energy cooling your food more than necessary.

Remember that for chest or upright freezers, where frozen food tends to be kept longer than in the freezer compartment of refrigerators, you want a somewhat lower freezer temperature of 0F or -17C.

If the compartment is not at the ideal setting, adjust the thermostat in the appropriate section up or down by just a small amount. Then wait another 24 hours and take a second reading. It’s best to tweak the thermostat a little at a time, until you reach the ideal refrigerator temperature. Once you reach that ideal setting, you can use a permanent marker to draw a line on the thermostat dial, so you have a reference point. It’s not a given that this will always give you the ideal temperature (thermostats can be finicky) but if you subsequently notice that the line is far from the front, you’ll know to measure the temperature once more.

It’s important to measure your refrigerator temperature (both compartments) on a monthly basis, or at least, if you have already checked it and have marked the position of the thermostat dial, to see that the dial hasn’t moved. It’s easy for these dials to get turned inadvertently, or on purpose by little hands, and if the temperature varies far from the proper settings of 40F for the fridge section or 5F for the freezer section, you either risk food spoilage or a higher electricity bill.

Matt Crick asked:

I remember last Christmas day as if it was yesterday. Not for the elated pretence when I received a video cassette, for the sixth consecutive year, from my grandparents; nor for the fact my brother stated that it “had been really tough year” and hence why he’d brought me a padded toilet seat. I remember it vividly for the incredible amount of time my parents spent in the kitchen prepping, cooking and then serving an exorbitant festive feast to our family – and how much they complained about it.

So it’s my decision this year that something has to change and one of two things is going to happen: My parents either reluctantly keep out of the kitchen, watch the inevitable down pour of TV mediocrity and my brother and I will cook; or the gifts under the tree comprise of wonderful kitchen gadgets that not only prevent an apocalyptic ending to dinner, but also go towards saving time and energy. I’m more excited than Delia Smith delivering a half-time speech.

And so my search begins. If only I could call upon a battalion of Santa’s little helpers to make this search as efficient and fun as possible. Instead, on this occasion, like more that 20 million Christmas shoppers last year, I will use the internet.

The problem with gas and electricity (similar to the great bearded man himself, of course,) is you never actually see it. There is no visual clue as to how much we’re using, or more importantly wasting, so it only hits home when the bill arrives – particularly those prodigious January statements. Energy prices are on the rise, money is becoming tighter, and although spending money on consumer electronics seems like the last thing any sane person should do, the judicious purchase of cash-friendly gadgets can save us money in the long term.

“Investing in gadgets and appliances that save you money will also help protect the planet,” says Adam Vaughan, editor of the Green Guy. “Unlike most gadgets, modern kitchen appliances offer an easy way to save valuable time in the kitchen and reduce the amount of time we all spend in there. Gadgets that save or generate energy will also have a clear long term financial benefit.”

So, I now know that my parents will be helping the environment as well as themselves this year, which means I can take great pleasure in selecting their new devices.

I first stumble across an electric potato peeler. I know this will be well received as last year a staggering 100 spuds were presented on our table, probably a figure not far off from the Royal Navy’s. The amount of bread consumed (subsequent days ahead of turkey sandwiches) was alarming, so a bread maker will save money and create a wonderful lingering aroma around the house.

“It is a very common habit to preheat the oven before cooking, so just put food in straight away to save energy,” says the Energy Saving Trust. “Also, don’t keep opening the oven door. Every time you do so, your oven loses 20 degrees Celsius of heat.”

This has inspired me to purchase some hot plates and serving magnates, which will reduce cooking time on the big day. I also discovered table top heaters and ovens to alleviate the amount of food cooked at once. Less energy used and more food to be dispatched – surely one of the best things about Christmas!

One item that is a surprise entry on my Christmas gift-list this year is a steam generator iron. Let me explain why: Allegedly, my mother spent two hours from sunrise on Christmas morning ironing and grooming the multitude of table clothes, elaborately-embodied table mats and clothes ready for proceedings. This is certainly not the ideal way to start the day, so if these unnecessary obstacles can be ‘flattened’ out, then we can ‘press on’ with the celebrating and spending time together as a family!

So in order to achieve this harmonious sanctuary, I suggest you take a look at http://www.electricshopping.com – an online electrical haven of products that help you save money and reduce your carbon footprint. Shopping this Christmas doesn’t have to cost you the earth.

Hopefully I’ll be back next year with the news my presents made the desired impact and my parents still intend to cook for the masses for years to come. We’ll see.

save energy

saurabh kanwar asked:

It is good when we talk about saving energy to help our planet. But saving energy to save money give many people a stimulus to do that.Saving money by investing in banks, share markets and trading are preliminary. On the flip side, a few changes in our behavioral and buying pattern could save us a great amount of money.

There are enormous ways which could help us save energy. But as big changes begin with a small step, we could start saving energy (and of course money) by bringing few changes at our home. The simple steps, that we overlook many-a-times, are listed here, hoping to be read and implemented. This might not give you a sound ROI, but would certainly lower the electricity bill that slips through our gate.

Air Conditioner: Setting the air conditioner on anywhere less than 24 degrees Celsius means increasing energy consumption by 3% to 5%. So by setting the AC temperature at 18 degree Celsius, you raise your electricity bill by 25-30%! Besides, 24 Degree Celsius is the most comfortable temperature range, and you need not use a programmable thermostat to auto-off the AC in every 30 minutes.

Task Lightning: Localized Average Lighting or Adjustable Task Lighting aims at reducing the energy used to light a place for only 1 to 2 persons. Task Lighting can be used in bedroom, study room and offices, and can easily be tweaked wherever the work area needs illumination.

Power Strip: : Plug all your electronic appliances in one power strip so that you can switch them off at once. This is one of the best money saving tricks for working people who leave their homes from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Room Heater: If you know the guests are arriving shortly, you can lower the temperature of the heater by few degrees. More number of people would emanate body heat, causing a rise in temperature.

Energy Saver Star: The Energy Star labeled appliances saves a great deal of money and are a perfect way of helping the environment from carbon dioxide. Buying an electric product that has the Energy Star label would cost you the same, or perhaps even less, and would save you a lot of money. Energy Star Product areas include: Commercial Heating and Cooling Appliances Commercial Heating and Cooling Equipment Residential Heating and Cooling Products like Ceiling Fans, Air Conditioners, etc. Consumer Electronics like TVs, DVDs, Cordless Phone Machines, Power Adapters, etc. Office Products like Computers, Scanners, Fax Machines, etc. Construction Products like Construction Heaters, etc.

A wise and succinct use of energy saves us a lot of money. Now wait there, you can run your PC on sleep mode if you are getting up.

Red Devils
